Public Works Superintendent / Maintenance Worker

The City of Maddock, North Dakota is seeking a motivated, dependable, experienced, and self-
directed individual to serve as our next Public Works Superintendent / Maintenance Worker for
our growing rural community.

This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and
improvement of the city’s public works systems and services. The successful candidate must be
willing to work independently, respond to emergencies, communicate effectively with the City
Council and residents, and take pride in maintaining the appearance and function of the
community.

We are looking for a self-driven professional who can confidently manage responsibilities, solve
problems independently, and lead by example without requiring constant direction. Strong
leadership, decision-making, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Duties Include:
• Snow removal and ice control
• Street maintenance and repair coordination
• Water and sewer system maintenance
• Mowing, tree and grounds maintenance
• Equipment operation and basic maintenance
• Garbage and branch/trash pickup
• Monitoring and maintaining city facilities
• Coordinating with contractors and vendors
• Responding to utility emergencies and resident concerns
• Attending City Council meetings and providing reports
• Planning, scheduling, and budgeting for upcoming projects
• Supervising and coordinating public works operations
• Other public works duties as assigned
• On-call responsibilities and responding to after-hours emergencies involving water,
   sewer, streets, and weather-related issues

Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to operate equipment and perform manual labor
• Mechanical ability preferred
• Strong work ethic, leadership skills, and initiative required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Water and wastewater certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Must be willing to be on-call and respond to emergencies as needed
