Maddock, ND, population 400, is a progressive rural community that lies in the heart of Benson County. Maddock boasts a large array of services/businesses for a small rural North Dakota town.  A bustling main street is home to a technology and community center, grocery, drugstore, restaurant/bar, auto parts store, chiropractor, beauty bar, insurance agencies, and financial institutions. A strong farming/ag community exists, and some major employers in the community include North Star Community Credit Union, Cen-Dak Co- op, and Maddock Public School.

Besides being a regional shopping center, a variety of recreational and leisure opportunities abound. One can warm up with a cup of coffee and conversation at Harriman’s Coffee House, or a delicious breakfast at Harriman’s Restaurant. Then join a walking group at the community center or play pickle ball or basketball at the event center. The beautiful Maddock Park takes pride in both a seasonal skating rink and basketball court. The baseball complex is busy in the summer with baseball, softball, and disc golf, and the nine-hole public golf course is bustling with activities in the warm months. The Maddock Opera House is home to numerous shows and activities throughout the year. The Events Center is home to an annual rodeo, and the Maddock Rural Renaissance Festival attracts many visitors each Fall.

Maddock is home to the Johnson Medical Clinic and the Maddock Basic Care Home, as well as a on-staff EMT and Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Services.  There are several churches in the community. The Maddock Public School engages students from K-12, and the Little Bobcats Daycare is located in the Events Center near the school. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the Maddock area as well.

Lodging and restaurant opportunities are welcomed by many in-state and out-of-state sportsmen who are regular travelers to the town during hunting and fishing season. The proximity to Devils Lake, one of the country’s premier fishing destinations, draws visitors to the community.
