Active Women of Maddock

AWM were first known as "Mrs Jaycees", then as "Woman of Today". They are a non-profit organization made up of local women interested in volunteering their time in building a stronger community. Members of Active Women of Maddock meet once per month.  Each year the AWM hold small events and a couple of major events to raise funds to distribute throughout the community and surrounding area. All area women are encouraged to participate and can become a member at any time. You can contact Karen Smith at 701-249-3503.

Benson County Event Center

The Benson County Event Center offers a gymnasium, arena, commercial kitchen and banquet room. A stage, sound system and audio visual equipment is available, along with tables and chairs. They gymnasium will seat up to 350 guests, and the banquet room is perfect for smaller parties of up to 100 guests. Perfect for banquets, meetings, dances, farm shows, rodeos and more. Our Business & Technology Center provides the community with access to high-speed Internet access, computers, printers and meeting space.  We offer business resources like printing and copies. We also lease space to small businesses. Some of our current business tenants include Jacobson Chiropractic and JM Styles Salon.  Our Suite Retreats are also located here, offering home-away-from-home lodging for travelers.

The Maddock Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that strives to help businesses grow in Maddock. We offer support and resources for new and existing local businesses, including grant and funding information. We also work hard to attract business to our region including new and expansion of existing.  MEDC is responsible for the management of the Business & Technology Center and the Suite Retreats. Historical Society

The Maddock Community Historical Museum complex is located at 312 1st Street. There are many displays of artifacts and documents reflective of the history of Maddock and the surrounding area which are housed in the main museum building.  There are additional buildings on the grounds which also contain museum collections. These include a township hall that was moved on site and houses a country store display, and a one room school house furnished as it was when in use. A log cabin and small chapel are located in the city park across from the museum complex. We also have the original Maddock Iron Works building (where Summers Mfg. began) with most of the original equipment and also the original station. Items from all gas stations in Maddock are on display at the Standard station.

We would  love to have anyone visiting or are new to the community to come and visit the museum. This is a great place to become acquainted with local history and information. As always, we welcome long time area residents too!!

The museum is open during special events in Maddock. It is possible to visit the museum at other times if arrangements are made in advance. Please call the numbers listed above to schedule a time.

Opera House Association

The Maddock Opera House Association is a North Dakota nonprofit corporation formed in 2009.  It is the legal owner of the building which was built in 1905 by businessman L.W. Harriman.  The Maddock Community Library; the Harriman Restaurant and Bobcat Bar; and the Harriman Coffee House, LLC are tenants of the Association.

Maddock supports recycling by offering a convenient location to recycle tin cans, magazines, books, white paper, newspapers, corrugated cardboard, plastic, brown, green & clear glass, and aluminum cans.  All materials must be clean.

Looking for a place to stay in Maddock?  We have two wonderful Suite Retreats available for visitors to use while visiting our hometown. Both units include a kitchen, bath, living room and bedroom. Occupancy rates are based on 4 guests, but we can accommodate up to 8 in our larger suite. Children under 12 are free.  For more information, click here.
